On the Elephant’s Knee by Thomas M. Easley
An ancient parable describes a king's meditation on the nature of the elephant:
One day the king assembled all the blind men of the town, and told his servant: "Show these men an elephant." The servant had one blind man touch the head of the elephant, another the ear, another the trunk, another the tusk, another a foot, another the back, another the tail, and another the tuft of the tail; and to each blind man he said, "you are touching the elephant." The king asked the blind men: "What is the elephant like?" The man who had touched the head said: "A pot." The one who had touched the ear said: "A fan." And so it went: the trunk became a plow; the tusk, a plowshare; the foot, a pillar; the back, a granary; the tail, a pestle; and the tuft of the tail, a broom. Then they began to argue with each other, saying: "An elephant is like this - no, it is not, it is like this - I tell you it is not"; until in the end they came to blows.
... and the king enjoyed the scene very much.
From the Foreword
'This book is but a tiny part of a huge body of universal wisdom. It is knowledge that is often thought to be as old as 30-60,000 years but, for all practical purposes, it can only be traced back 9,000 years. It is not information that any one person can own. This includes all scribes of knowledge, be they esoteric, religious, practical, new age or fundamental. Knowledge is a universal privilege and, how we decide to use it largely determines the direction we will take as an evolutionary species.
Many have taken parts of this great understanding and delivered it in a way that served the needs of the masses of the time, hence religions were born and theories manifested. This presentation addresses only the Knee of the Elephant as opposed to the whole. It is a small but significant beginning in facilitating movement.
The Knowledge has afforded a process called Foundation Sketching. This allows one to create a personal profile or sketch for themselves or others. It's a little like looking in a magnifying mirror...' -Zannah
