Ten Years of Daily Cards by Robert Burton
'Peter Ouspensky wrote that there are three kinds of Fourth Way schools: practical, theoretical and philosophical. Of these, Robert Burton has always characterized his teaching as being practical. Consequently, his focus is not on explaining the nature of the universe and man's place in it, or on the study of human psychology, but on providing techniques to be used in the moment-to-moment struggle to awaken. He speaks and writes in 'angles', short thoughts on a subject which are small enough to fit into one moment - both in terms of comprehending them and in terms of using them.
In 1976 Robert began to provide daily angles to his students in the form of small cards distributed at the Lincoln Lodge. At first, these daily cards contained quotations from various authors, but beginning in February 1988 he began to use his own thoughts. In either case, the daily cards can be thought of as a collection of tools, each designed to work with a specific weakness in a specific moment.' (From the introduction)
