"Ain Soph" The Unknown God by F.J. Mayers
This book is an exposition of the first three chapters of the " Book of Genesis." It is based entirely on the Hebrew text, interpreted in accordance with the hieroglyphic nature of the Hebrew language. The writer believes that the soundness of the principles, on which he has worked, will be amply demonstrated by the complete consistency which it reveals throughout the whole narrative, and by the way in which, one after another, all the absurdities which have been credited to the writer of the ancient text, and the difficulties which have proved insurmountable to all who have attempted to interpret it on other lines, disappear entirely. The Book of Genesis proves itself to be logically philosophic, and in complete harmony with the results of Modern Scientific researches which are continually undergoing changes. The present studies, although the writer is fully aware of his own, insufficiency to deal with many subjects, in more than a general way, will shed a new and very thought-provoking light on many doctrines of "orthodox" Theology. His book, however, is not at all intended to set forth any opinions or theories of his own, but though not necessarily of particular scientific hypotheses simply and solely to show as clearly as he possibly can what the Hebrew text actually says and means.
While the author hopes that his work will prove useful and suggestive to ministers of religion and Bible students in general, he has written it in a free, popular way that he trusts will be intelligible to the "man in the street," and the many who have no knowledge of the Hebrew language.
